Vintage Miriam Haskell Scarab And Pharaoh Necklace

A stunning and rare Miriam Haskell Egyptian Revival necklace from the 1970’s featuring ancient Egyptian inspired motifs.  This substantial gold-tone gas pipe mesh necklace is interspersed with sections featuring large carved acrylic scarabs and gold-toned 3-dimentional pharaoh masks that are accented with small round mottled bead embellishments.   All in all this is a wonderfully crafted necklace by Haskell that depicts iconic symbols from the wondrous Egyptian antiquities that have been discovered over centuries –  echoing the enchanting history of ancient Egypt.  Egyptian motif jewellery has always been very popular going back as far as the late 1700’s during the Napoleonic era, right into relatively recent times.  There have been some fantastic discoveries made; notably the most famous of all was the fabulous historic discovery in 1922 by Lord Carnarvon of the tomb of the famed Egyptian boy king, Tutankhamun.  Interest soared once again for nostalgic Egyptian inspired jewellery when the treasures of Tutankhamun went on tour around the world and were exhibited in the British Museum in 1972.  The great news is that this wonderful exhibition is to do one last tour before it finally goes home to proudly take its place in the new Cairo Museum.

This exquisite necklace by Miriam Haskell exuberates and beautifully embodies some of the nostalgic essences from a magnificent civilisation.  The necklace closes securely with the original oblong clasp signed on one side Miriam Haskell and on the other side with the patent number 3427681.  It also has the accompanying Miriam Haskell hang tag.
