Trifari Faux Sapphire And Clear Rhinestone Clipmates Brooch
£245.00
A lovely early Trifari “Clipmates” brooch which consists of a panel on each clip of invisibly set square faux sapphires in an array of dazzling clear round-cut rhinestones that are set in silver toned rhodium plated metal. This versatile brooch can be worn as a complete brooch or it can be separated and the individual clips worn as adornments to a dress or on lapels of a jacket etc., The dress clips mount onto the skeleton frame to make a complete brooch that fastens with secure pinwheel mechanism. One clip is marked “Clipmates” whilst the other clip is marked with the Patent Number 2050804. The Patent was designed by Alfred Philippe and Trifari, Krussman & Fishel Inc. filed for the Clipmates Patent in April 1936 and this Patent was granted in August of the same year. There are no Trifari markings other than the Patent Number which would indicate that this piece dates from around 1936.
